I'm Back!

But maybe not for long...at least not here. I've been contemplating the idea of changing my blogging method and starting something entirely new. I'll keep you updated if the idea takes shape. For now, here are a few pictures of life over the last few months. We'll see if I get around to filling in the details in more lengthy posts to come.

My mom came to visit
(actually, this happened right after Lincoln was born, but I never blogged about it)

We had lots of fun playing with the water table Aunt Amanda sent the boys for their birthdays

The boys became painting cats for a day...just because they wanted to

We celebrated Wesley's 2nd birthday

We visited the pumpkin patch
(and had a terrible photo shoot)

We decorated Halloween cookies, went to the ward trunk-or-treat, and went trick-or-treating with friends

We celebrated Thanksgiving with my sister, who flew in from Washington, D.C.

Lincoln grew into an incredibly smiley baby

We took family pictures

The living room was transformed into a campground for a few days

And we spent Christmas in Utah,

where the boys discovered their love of playing in the snow!

With all of the other craziness, 2013 certainly ended with a bang, but the best possible kind! We've had a fabulous year and look forward to all that 2014 holds for us (possibly a PhD?).

More Day-to-Day Life

I probably post way too many pictures of my little family on this blog. But it's a good way for me to keep my own record of our day-to-day lives, in addition to my journal, and also a good way to save copies of all of our photos. So far, no one has experienced vision problems due to too many camera flashes in their eyes, so I think we're ok. :) In any case, here is another giant random picture dump.

A pipeline was being laid right in front of our house! The boys loved watching the whole process. It is really fascinating!

Lincoln is yet another extremely efficient baby. At his 2-month appointment he was 13 1/2 pounds and 24 inches long, putting him in about the 85th percentile for weight and 93rd for length. But his feedings are usually 10 minutes or less and every 3 hours with one nighttime feeding. Yet he always has a huge belly right after feedings, he spits up a ton, and diaper blowouts happen pretty much daily. When he gets this huge belly, Sam calls him a "milk baby."

This was actually a month or so ago, so he's quite a bit bigger now.

It looks like he'll be built just like Wesley, though, who was such a buff baby! Look at this kid's muscles!

I'm so glad these two have each other. Wesley talks in full sentences now, so their play together has gotten to be a lot more fun and interactive from both sides. I love seeing it happen!

Both boys adore Lincoln.

Sometimes a bit too much...

Not bad for a 7-week-old baby! This little guy loves to stand!

Leave It to Beaver, anyone?

I still can't quite make up my mind about his eye color. The rest of his coloring is definitely more like Talmage's, but his eyes seem to be navy blue right now. Every once in a while they take on a brownish tint, though, when we're in the right light.

A woman Sam taught on his mission made the boys these cute towels!

Watching the boys try to put these safety goggles on themselves can always bring a smile to my face.

I don't think I'll ever get sick of the newborn-stage. I could hold this guy all day long!

We took advantage of the free morning the day I mistakenly thought we had a doctor's appointment and headed to the park for a picnic.

And lastly, Talmage made this out of tinkertoys. We don't have a TV, we don't own any toy guns, and our kids haven't been around much media violence (or real-life violence, for that matter). Talmage went to a friend's house and played with some toy guns, apparently, and has been crazy about them ever since, turning all kinds of things into "shooters." I try to stay fairly neutral about his enthusiasm as long as he isn't "shooting" at people. I was pretty impressed when he showed me his creation, though. Each finger goes in one of the holes down the side and there is a "button" in each hole that shoots. A tinkertoy machine gun, in essence. It reminds me of when my brother was 3 or 4 and didn't have any toy guns so began "shooting" things with his 2-year-old sister's baby dolls.

Hope your Tuesday is going well!
